Perhitungan menggunakan GEOMETRY dan GEOGRAPHY dibuat berbeda, dan begitu juga hasilnya. GEOGRAPHY menghitung koordinat di atas permukaan bola (yang bisa jauh lebih lambat daripada GEOMETRY ) dan menggunakan meters sebagai satuan pengukuran, sedangkan GEOMETRY menggunakan proyeksi planar dan menggunakan unit SRS.
